Things not to do on the eve of your birthday
I wanted to spend the evening getting rid of the clothes I never wear anymore. I had to get rid of my favourite dress.

Me getting ready to present my homeroom class with plaques at grad.
I thought purging my closet would be a good way to start my 32nd year. It mostly made me feel terrible about myself. I had to get rid of three garbage bags full of clothes that no longer fit. It is a reminder that I'm not as skinny, pretty and young as I used to be. Worst of all, it is a reminder of how broke I am to not be able to replace these clothes for a long time. Lack of money just reminds me of the fact I still have not found a job.

somethings never change
Lessons learned at age 27: three cubed - April 29, 2005.
I learned a lot that year. Yay me! Those were some rough years I went though but I know they were necessary.
Things I learned this year in no particular order:
1) I am a music elitist.
2) There is no media conspiracy.
3) Some battles are not worth fighting.
4) Forgiveness is a choice you continually have to make.
5) You cannot lighten hair dyed black.
6) Life is never what you expect it to be.
7) God will humble the proud heart.
8) Patience is easier said than done.
I'm sure I learned some other things but I can't think of them right now.

Thirty Years Ago Today
My parents went to bed after watching the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the New York Islanders 5-2 in the quarter finals of the Stanley Cup playoffs. My very pregnant mom woke my dad up around midnight to tell him it was time to go to the hospital. I was born around 2:30 am.
My dad used to call me "Little Dudley" before I was born. He would talk to me in the womb saying "Hey there Little Dudley, this is your dad." If if was a boy, his name would be Michael David and they had not decided what they would name a girl.
Filed under "How am I not surprised?": "Night Fever" by The Bee Gees was the top song the day I was born.

Birthday Fun
I had a pretty good birthday celebration yesterday. Apparently there is some other secret plan for this week so this weekend I wanted to just take it easy to celebrate.
A small group of friends and I went for manicures and pedicures, a late lunch, shopping, then for cheesecake. It was a pretty good day.
This is the dress I bought yesterday:

I wore it to church today. I was a little paranoid it looks like a night gown but nobody else thought so.

Birthday Road Trip #1
I can't believe I have not had time to write about this until now, this happened nearly 3 weeks ago. Anyway, late news is better than no news.
I worked 13 hours on Saturday and was ready for a much needed break. Sunday was my friend's birthday and the plan was to go out to his dad's cabin for the day.
We all met at my friends house so we could car pool out to the cabin since it was about an hour away. When we were deciding who was going with who, I was told that I was going in the vehicle that had to pick up someone on our way out of town. A couple problems with that situation:
1) The driver was not told that he had to pick anyone up and I mentioned after we left.
2) No one knew how where this guy lived that we had to pick up.
3) When we phone the birthday boy for directions, they were wrong
4) When we called the guy we were picking up for directions once we realized we were lost, he gave us the wrong house number.
All of this resulted in us leaving the city over an hour later than we were supposed.
After for traveling for about an hour, we realized that we had missed a turn off. The only person who knew the way was reading and not paying attention.
We had a lot of fun traveling. Lots of "car dancing", Oiler flag waving and funny conversations. The driver even invented a new dance which I believe he calls "Feeding the Baby".

Bargain Birthday
Every birthday and Christmas I buy myself a present. In the last little while it has been a pretty cheap present but I always get myself something. This year I decided I want to get myself a Montreal Canadiens shirt. I've had a bunny hug forever. I had some t-shirts a long time ago but they have long since worn out.
I checked online which shirt I wanted to get but they charge a ton for shipping and the shirt was already $35. Today I checked a local sports store (according to their website they don't even have it). Not only did they have it in my size but it was on sale for $10! It completely made my day.

One year older...
... and all I have to show for it is a car that smells like newly printed brochures that sat in the sun all day. You wouldn't think it but that smell really lingers.

"Dance your cares away"
I am still sick. I had to call in sick to work. There was a birthday supper then movie for my cousin/roommate that I had to miss. I've only eaten half a bagel and a cereal bar today. Boo being sick.
Fraggle Rock: The Complete First Season comes out on DVD today.
I went to a family church camp this past weekend. It seemed so short. The meetings were really good. I felt sort of anti-social. I felt tired all weekend. All I wanted to do was read and sleep.

three cubed
To comment on my sister's mention of my birthday. I did not mention it for two reasons. First, I don't like celebrating birthdays. It isn't any sort of accomplishment. You just went another whole year without dying. Maybe when living another year is an accomplishment I'll celebrate it. Second, I don't feel like I have whole lot in my life to celebrate. Things like wedding anniversaries should be celebrated. Marriage is a lot of work and worth celebrating.
Things I learned this year in no particular order:
1) I am a music elitist.
2) There is no media conspiracy.
3) Some battles are not worth fighting.
4) Forgiveness is a choice you continually have to make.

7) God will humble the proud heart.
8) Patience is easier said than done.
I'm sure I learned some other things but I can't think of them right now.

"Sweet Lincoln's mullet!"
From my point of view, the fondue party was a great success. I even managed not to drop any of my food in the fondue. We had 16 for supper and two that came later. Eating a meal entirely cooked by fondue takes a long time. After the meal we played "I Have Never..." and then four on the couch. Over all a good, fun time.
I am really upset with my current cable provider. Yesterday, without warning, they changed the channel lineup. Now channels we got before, we would have to pay extra. I was already annoyed because they increased the rates last month. I am considering a change.

Today is our big fondue party. We are throwing it to celebrate our friend Kelly's birthday. There is a lot of things to do to prepare: clean the house, prepare the food and finish fondue menus.
On Friday I finally watch the show Numb3rs. It is about an FBI agent (Rob Morrow) who gets help from his genius mathematician brother (David Krumholtz) on cases. I thought it was good but I might be biased due to my undying love for mathematics. My question is when did Fleischman become hot? Maybe it just because he playing a cop.

break on through to the other side
Last night I went bowling for my friend's birthday party. It has been forever since the last time I bowled. It was rather embarrassing, the first game I didn't even break 100. I used to be in a bowling league too. I wish I wasn't so competitive and didn't care.
Riders won last night in a clutch. It was high excitement. I was surprised the didn't choke in the 4th quarter like they normally do. Maybe their win last week against Montreal wasn't a fluke?
