Last night on The Hour, my future boyfriend (and fellow Habs fan) George Stroumboulopoulos interviewed the head of the Nettwork Record Label in Canada. This is the company that is paying the legal bill for the man who is being sued for illegally downloading music story I posted a link to yesterday.
I wish The Hour website had posted a video of the interview. This music executive was saying that the music industry needs to rethink how they do business instead of alienating fans with lawsuits. One of the suggestions was releasing songs immediately instead of waiting for 12 songs for a CD. I guess that is kind of what Motown Records used to do. He also suggested that recording artists focus on revenue from live performances and merchandise. It makes sense to me.
