bah
I'm surrounded by couples. Why can't they take their coupling ways elsewhere? Let celebrity "life coach" Star Jones lets you answer the question Is He the One? This only further proves my point that once people get married (women in particular) think that they are experts about love. Bah humbug.
Crossover Show
In the great tradition of TV cross overs like Magnum P.I. and Simon & Simon comes the new collaboration between Fox and CBS called 24 Numb3rs
What to say, what to say....
Last night my friend Shannon came over for a visit. She is in the city for work. We were told about this Saskatchewan pub that we wanted to check out. I had high hopes but it was nothing special. Both of us were expecting it to be packed but it was pretty dead. At least we know what it is like now.
My morning began at 2:30am after only 3 hours sleep. Waking at this time was not intentional, I just woke up and couldn't sleep. I didn't get back to sleep until around 4:30am. Other than that it was a pretty humdrum day.

End of a Good Thing

Today the people who I am boarding with are coming home from vacation. Boooo. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for somewhere to stay while I try to find my own place. I just need my own space where I don't feel like I'm intruding.

How true, how true.
There were elections called today in Thailand. He dissolved Parliament due to protests when some of his business dealings were revealed. One protester's sign read:
"When money talks, the truth is not heard."
"When money talks, the truth is not heard."
Booyakasha! Respek.
"I was kind of in shock. It was difficult. I was in a good place and I didn't feel nervous, but physically I just couldn't execute when I needed to."
- SASHA COHEN, after coming in second in women's figure skating at the Olympics.
I immediately thought to myself, "Isn't Sasha Cohen the guy who plays Ali G?" I had to check it out. His name is Sacha Baron Cohen. So despite first glance of the name, a 6'3" British man did not compete in women's figure skating.

Wonkified
I finally am set up to have an RN give me my allergy shot. At the walk-in clinic near work has a policy that you have to see a doctor first a couple times before they will let you. Since I have been getting my shots for nearly 6 years and have no fatal allergies, they set me up after 2 visits. This is a huge relief since today I was there for two hours. Now I just have to wait until the RN is available so the longest i would be there is a half hour (they make me wait for 20 minutes to see if I am alright).
I felt wonky after my allergy shot today. In addition to that my back was spasming so I decided to take a bath and have a nap. I did not start working until 4pm. I only worked about 5 hours today so I will make up the rest of the time on Saturday.

What once was lost...
I went to Banff with some friends on Sunday. One of the friends I had not seen for over a year. It was pretty windy so we just stayed in the town of Banff.
I was a "view and run" and didn't even know it. When we first got to town one friend desperately had to go to the bathroom. He happened to park right by a museum. We looked around the gift shop then used the washrooms (we didn't want to seem like we were only there to pee). I decided I wanted to check out the art exhibit; strangely my friends did not come with me. After we left the building my friends told me I was supposed to pay to go in. It was a gallery owned by the government it never occurred to me I would have to pay to go in. I'm used to the ones in Saskatchewan that you make a donation if you like but no admission is charged. Oops. Apparently it was $6 for adults, it was hardly worth $6.
Yesterday, my cell phone was found. I was so sure that I left it in the loaner van I had while my car was being fixed. I called the place and it was loaned out again so I had to wait for the person who had it to contact the auto body shop. They called me back saying it wasn't in the van. I could not figure out where i could have left it. I remember where I left it and then I did not have it after. It left me very confused. Yesterday, they called me back and told me they found it. It was exactly where I left it. My cousin is picking it up tomorrow. I have no idea how it will get to me. I am mostly relieve no one was using it. (I did have service suspended on Thursday but that was after being missing for 4 days).
Today was back to the grind stone after a long weekend. The problem with full time employment, it seriously cuts into my procrastination time.

Lost Parody
Weird Al created a parody of Bohemian Rhapsody about the show Lost called Lost Rhapsody.
I'm back...finally
I finally have Internet for my computer. Last night the tech guy came and made some changes so it would be allowed.
Moving was a bit of a gong show. It felt like I was never going to get out of Saskatoon. Some highlights of the move:
Until I find my own place, I am boarding with the family of my new employer. It just so happens my new employer is my cousin's husband. Currently I have the house to myself since they left on vacation yesterday. My cousin Saryn is another boarder here and she will return on Monday. Enough for now.
Moving was a bit of a gong show. It felt like I was never going to get out of Saskatoon. Some highlights of the move:
- one of the movers looked like Willem Dafoe
- My car was not ready until 4pm. I had been ready to go at noon so I had to wait. I went over to a friend's house and visited her for awhile.
- After my car was ready, I had to put on the new windshield wipers I had purchased. I couldn't figure how to put them on when I realized that I bought the wrong ones. I could not return since they were out of the package (I also lost the receipt). I bought new ones. I broke one of them trying to put them on in the Canadian Tire parking lot. I had to buy another one. To summarize: I had to buy 5 windshield wiper blades recently.
- I realized around Kindersley that I did not know were my cell phone was. I had so much stuff packed in my car, I was hoping it was somewhere. I had a sneaky feeling that it might be in the loaner vehicle from the auto body shop. I contacted everywhere I was on Monday and I could not track it down. I tried calling the phone, I could check messages but could not find it. I finally had to suspend service on Thursday.

See ya in awhile
I woke up this morning feeling pretty lousy. My allergies have been pretty bad these last couple weeks. I think I have caught a cold. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between an allergic reaction and a cold.
This will be my last post for a little while. Tomorrow the movers come at 9am. My car is getting fixed and should be done tomorrow. They will call me tomorrow morning to let me know for sure. Once I have my car back, I will pack it up and go to Calgary.

Boxes Galore

This week has flown by so fast. After I was finished my appointments in Regina, I got a ride back to Saskatoon with a friend. Thankfully she was able to spend some of her time here helping me pack.
Since Thursday afternoon all I have mostly done has packed. There has been little to no procrastination. Quick someone take my temperature: I must be running a fever because I'm feeling efficient.
One mildly amusing story about packing:
Today Ky was helping me finish packing some odds and ends. I have a TV stand/book shelf from the 70s that you can take apart and put back together again. We couldn't figure out how to get the legs off since my dad took it apart and put it together again in my last move. I was on the phone with my dad as Ky worked on it. The instructions were to twist the legs then pull them out but he didn't entirely remember how to do it. We had to pull pretty hard but some of them eventually came. One of them was really stuck so I helped Ky pull the leg out. We pulled so hard a chunk of particle board came with it. This is the point where we realized we had been doing it wrong the whole time. After closer examination there is a screw to turn by each leg that releases it from the shelf. Ky and I managed to completely destroy it. I was not upset at all. I actually find the whole thing to be rather funny.

I love technology but not as much as you, you see
MIRANDA
O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!
PROSPERO
'Tis new to thee.
(Shakespeare, The Tempest, V.i.203-27)
I thought of this quote a couple days ago when I was playing a game online with a friend from Charlotte, NC and a friend from Cranbrook, BC. I never dreamed this was possible when I first used the Internet about 10 years ago. I was reminded of it this morning when was I reading my sister's post about blogging. As I marvel at all these feats of technology, they will seem commonplace (or possibly antiquated) to younger generations.
