Sugar, ah honey, honey

I decided to cut refined sugar out of my diet. My sister was telling me how much refined sugar reduces the immune system so I did a little research. A single can of pop can decrease your immune system by 25% for about an hour, a frosted brownie by 60%. I know I am sick all the time because of allergies but my immune system needs all the help it can get. Let's see how that goes.

Lyn also recently heard from her chiropractor that bad posture can cause allergies, too. Isn't that nuts?

  2. I looked it up and that is not entirely true. Problem with your back and nervous system can make your immune system decrease its effectiveness. Allergies are either genetically inherited, due to environmental exposure or a combination of both. If you have a weak immune system, your allergies will manifest. The underlying sensitivities are already there, it is your bodies ability to deal with it that makes the difference.

  3. That's great that you are cutting out refined sugar! I have done the same all of 2008 so far. There are so many wonderful substitutes like dried fruit, and honey and agave nectar to cook with. I hope you really enjoy eating other natural sugars that are much healthier for you.

  4. By the way, Saryn wants me to try stevia sometime. It's pretty expensive (at least it was expensive at the store where I found it), but apparently it's really good for you.

  5. One of my cousin's daughter in Texas researched sweeteners for a Masters thesis. Stevia is the only sweetener she will use.
